I am pleased to invite you to participate in a conference on Municipal Issues and Wind Energy in Ontario that will be held on November 17th, 2005 at the London Convention Centre. This one day event is sponsored by the Ontario Government, Natural Resources Canada, the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Wind Energy Association. The conference program is attached for your information.

With the Ontario Government seeking 2,700 MW of new renewable energy by 2010, wind energy developers are seeking to develop new wind energy projects in municipalities across Ontario. Most municipalities, however, have little experience or knowledge with respect to wind energy and
little in the way of policy to manage such development.

This one day conference is designed to:
Inform municipal governments about wind energy, the Ontario Government's renewable energy policy objectives, and the wind energy project development and approval process

Provide a forum for debate and discussion of any issues associated with wind energy development that may be of concern to municipal governments

Identify actions that need to be taken to assist municipal governments and wind energy developers to ensure that effective and efficient process are in place to assess and take decisions on potential wind energy projects.
