Deadlines to Meet for Environment Canada

October 3, 2004 - Road Authorities/municipalities that are developing or currently have a Salt Management Plan must submit a “Letter of Intent” to Environment Canada. See OGRA website for template.

April 3, 2005 - Completion of Salt Management Plan

June 30, 2005 - First Road Salt Annual Report to Environment Canada

Guides

Environment Canada has indicated that it will be publishing two guides to assist road authorities/municipalities in meeting the requirements of the Code of Practice for the Environmental Management of Road Salts.

The first, the Implementation Guide, is available at the link below:

Several municipalities have completed and have received Council approval of their salt management plans. OGRA will provide a link to the municipal website or the municipal contact. Please note OGRA is unable to showcase these salt management plans on the OGRA website.
