The emphasis on asset management to support planning is growing. Municipal DataWorks is a web-based data storage repository for infrastructure asset data based on a common standard (MIDS 3.0) comparable across Ontario. In addition to the core asset inventory repository, MDW features Structure Inspection, Capital Investment Plan (CIP), and Water and Sewer Modules. The Asset Valuation module will help municipalities create reports that will comply with the coming PSAB requirements. MDW allows municipalities, consultants, OGRA, and the Province to measure, evaluate, and report on municipal infrastructure.
