Familiarizes you with the common soils and aggregates used in municipal infrastructure construction including the basics of roadbed design, drainage and pavement structures. You will be able to identify numerous roadway performance problems and solutions.

Previous involvement with soils and/or road work will be an asset.

Benjamin de Haan is a licensed professional engineer and is the County Engineer for the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. As a county engineer, Ben is responsible for the overall management of the roads department – which includes design, rehabilitation and maintenance of approximately 1000 kilometres roads and 200 bridges.
After obtaining his degree from McGill University in 2003, Ben started his career as municipal engineer at a local consulting firm. Ben left consulting in 2009 to start working at the county.
