On Wednesday, November 14th, the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) made its way to Queen’s Park for its annual advocacy day. OGRA’s Board of Directors and staff spent the day at the Ontario Legislature meeting with over 50 MPPs from all four parties. The discussions were centred on three key issues:
Each year, OGRA utilizes its advocacy day as a chance to renew its role as a key stakeholder and trusted partner in the provincial policy development process.
Although much preparation and fanfare go into the day itself, it is only the beginning. Pursuing effective change requires dialogue, education, and collaboration. Through its municipal partners, OGRA has heard that the above-mentioned issues are top of mind. To help give members more in-depth knowledge, we have put together a briefing note on each topic.
These notes should help to fill the information gap and can be used when engaging with provincial partners.
Moving forward, OGRA will be engaging its municipal members to help ensure that these issues do not fall off the provincial policy radar. Only through continued collaboration can the municipal sector achieve effective and concerted change.
We will be reaching out to our municipal members again in early 2019. In the meantime, OGRA encourages you to familiarize yourself with the issues at hand.
